Some days… you just sort of have Humpty Dumpty on your mind.\u00a0 Relentlessly.\u00a0 I’m sure we’ve all had these tumultuous times in our lives.\u00a0 You just can’t get the dude out of your thoughts.<\/p>\n

This is one of those days for me.<\/p>\n

So, I say we break it down, so we can all rest easier, and go on living our lives.<\/p>\n

The most common modern text follows:<\/p>\n

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
\nHumpty Dumpty had a great fall.
\nAll the king’s horses and all the king’s men
\nCouldn’t put Humpty together again.<\/p>\n

Whatever could it all mean?<\/p>\n

First item of note…. the obvious.\u00a0 I really don’t think Humpty Dumpty was an egg.\u00a0 Nowhere in the poem, new or old, does it make such a claim.\u00a0 So, why I ask you… WHY is the Humpster always depicted as an egg?<\/p>\n

Humpy Dee could be anything, really.\u00a0 A tea pot.\u00a0 A lamp.\u00a0 A glass of water, for all we know.\u00a0 Heck… a Chia Pet.\u00a0 But… it doesn’t specify egg.\u00a0 Anywhere.<\/p>\n

Next on the agenda.\u00a0 A lot of people say that Humpty Dumpty didn’t fall…. Dumpers was pushed.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 Speculation.\u00a0 The poem clearly states….\u00a0 Humpty had a great fall.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Light headed?\u00a0 Clumsy?\u00a0 Vertigo? Trying to tie those shoes and spilled over?\u00a0 Or perhaps pushed?\u00a0 I’ll tell you.\u00a0 The mystery continues.<\/p>\n

Who is Humpty?\u00a0 Boy or girl, animal or inanimate object?\u00a0 Argggghhhhh.\u00a0 This is just getting worse and worse.\u00a0 We are no closer to a solution.\u00a0 It is all a big puzzle.<\/p>\n

One thing is certain.\u00a0 It is clear that Humpty could not be put together again.\u00a0 The King’s men tried.\u00a0 The King’s horses tried.\u00a0 What the heck?\u00a0 The horses tried?\u00a0 Soooo… what do I make of all of this?<\/p>\n

I think Humpty Dumpty was just THAT….. some kind of a puzzle….. say……\u00a0 like a jigsaw puzzle.\u00a0\u00a0 The thing just fell off the wall… perhaps on a windy day…. and down it went.\u00a0 So the King’s men and horses gave it a shot… but… no dice.\u00a0 You see, in that strong wind… some of the pieces blew away.<\/p>\n

And THIS is exactly what we can learn from Humpty.<\/p>\n

Everything changes.\u00a0 Sometimes we fall.\u00a0 And we fall so hard (or even light)…. that all our pieces go all over the place.\u00a0 Eventually, we get them back together… but not quite all the way.\u00a0 A couple of pieces blew away.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t mean we aren’t okay…. or that we aren’t complete.\u00a0 It doesn’t mean that we aren’t put back together.\u00a0 It simply means that we have changed… as a result of that tumble.\u00a0 We are different.\u00a0 We have become a new puzzle.\u00a0\u00a0 Just missing a couple of pieces that we will never forget.<\/p>\n

So maybe it isn’t such a mystery after all.
\nThen again, maybe he was simply\u00a0 a Boy Egg on a wall…. who got pushed.<\/p>\n
