I will tell you.\u00a0 And. There are a lot of big dollars in our hot little hands at stake. Not necessarily yours and mine &#8230; but the masses of consumers&#8230; here, there and everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>What I don&#8217;t understand&#8230; really&#8230; is why things come and go?<\/p>\n<p>I miss Mr. Whipple and his little toilet paper squeezing fetish.\u00a0 I also yearn to see the Imperial Margarine guy&#8230; getting his crown.<\/p>\n<p>Madge doesn&#8217;t soak in it anymore.\u00a0 Dag nab it.<\/p>\n<p>What the heck ever happened to the warm and fuzzy moments of the Cotton Commercials?<\/p>\n<p>What about the long nostalgic walks down the long hallway in the Lifesaver Commercials?\u00a0 Wasn&#8217;t everything&#8230; a &#8220;Lifesaver Moment&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8230; the commercial are cool and sleek&#8230; vogue and hip.\u00a0 They all sound like the music from Juno.\u00a0 Or Sex in the City.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong.\u00a0 I think today&#8217;s commercials are as snappy as they get.\u00a0 Like Mini-Series.\u00a0 But when the Quaker-Oat-Dude used to wink and smile&#8230; I felt a REAL connection.\u00a0\u00a0 Like I could really put my &#8220;Quaker&#8221; on&#8230;. and feel totally good about it.<\/p>\n<p>I just get a little wistful and sentimental sometimes&#8230; you will have to excuse me.\u00a0 Every time I buy tuna&#8230; which is pretty often&#8230; I shed a little tear for Charlie.\u00a0 He had his 15 minutes of fame.\u00a0 And now he is just some schmuck of a fish on the front of a tuna can.\u00a0\u00a0 Let&#8217;s not even mention the Chicken of the Sea Mermaid. I think she is in a home for unwed mothers&#8230; these days.<\/p>\n<p>And the Frito Bandito?\u00a0\u00a0 Deported.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was an illegal immigrant.\u00a0 I mean&#8230; nothing else is made in the U.S.A.\u00a0 So what is the big deal about Bandito?<\/p>\n<p>I will never understand it all.\u00a0 I think I will just go put on a cotton sweater and do some dishes in Palmolive.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When all else fails&#8230; I&#8217;ll hug a roll of toilet paper.<\/p>\n<div class=\"copy-paste-block\">\n<p class=\"bq_fq_a\"><em><strong>&#8220;One man&#8217;s uplift is another man&#8217;s sentimental hooey.&#8221;\u00a0 Josh Radnor<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commercials.\u00a0 They come and they go.
