People love to tell tall tales.\u00a0 Or pull the wool over another’s eyes.<\/p>\n

And they seem to get giddy with a sense of accomplishment when such a task is completed.\u00a0 This act of Tom Foolery.<\/p>\n

But, as a City Girl, turned Country Girl, with the City still Embedded…. I am here to dispel a falsity of epic proportions.\u00a0 And that my friends is the Practice of Cow Tipping.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Cow Tipping.
\nMuch like the renowned\u00a0 Snipe Hunting, it is better known…… … as a practical joke.<\/p>\n

It is reminiscent to\u00a0 telling a newbie in a pizza restaurant to go to the refrigerator for the dough repair kit.<\/p>\n

So, I hate to be the party pooper, but here I am, once again.\u00a0 Pooping on the party.<\/p>\n

Yet, with all of that said, I do have a Cow Tipping story to share with you.\u00a0 It happened, probably about a dozen years ago.\u00a0 We were driving through Minnesota, or Michigan,… or actually, it could have been Wisconsin.\u00a0 Nonetheless.\u00a0\u00a0 We were on a country road, and it was getting late. To top it off, we were getting hungry.<\/p>\n

So we pulled over at a roadside diner.\u00a0 It was a bit of a hole in the wall.\u00a0 Funny, I can’t remember which state, but the name of the diner!\u00a0 It was Earl and Myrtle’s Hometown Dining.<\/p>\n

Earl welcomed us.\u00a0 He was both the Maitre D and the waiter.\u00a0 There were probably eight tables in the place.\u00a0 All empty.<\/p>\n

We ordered burgers with the works.\u00a0 But, one of their specials was Homemade Au Gratin Potatoes.\u00a0 We ordered a couple of servings of those too.\u00a0 Oh my goodness.\u00a0 I will never forget those spuds.\u00a0\u00a0 They were THE best I’ve ever eaten.\u00a0 In fact, we got one more order, and split it.<\/p>\n

As we were paying our bill we, gave Earl a nice tip for the great service.\u00a0 Then I handed him some extra money and asked him to give it to the Cook…..\u00a0 as those were the best cheesy potatoes I’d ever had.\u00a0 He said Myrtle made them, and he could go get her…. If we liked.<\/p>\n

A few minutes later, he walked out of the kitchen with a large Holstein cow in tow.\u00a0 Myrtle.<\/p>\n

She sauntered toward us.\u00a0 Myrtle then nodded as if to thank us for the extra cash.\u00a0 Earl apologized that she didn’t talk much, but she certainly was thanking us for our generosity.\u00a0 He also added that the potato dish was so good because Myrtle made her very own cheese.\u00a0 Fresh.<\/p>\n

That night was really something, I’ll tell you.\u00a0 I was very glad for it though.\u00a0 But as I exited the diner, it hit me.
\nWe had just tipped a cow.<\/p>\n

So as you can see…. Cow Tipping actually CAN happen… now that I think of it.\u00a0 And that is the udder truth.<\/p>\n
