To start off my day… I met with the plumber.<\/p>\n

Now most of you may think this is an adversity, of sorts.\u00a0 But in fact, I like our plumber.\u00a0 He works for a big name plumbing company out of Dayton.\u00a0 They have given us tremendous service, and quality, for years.\u00a0 We always ask for the same guy.\u00a0 Matt.<\/p>\n

He and I have become friends over the years.\u00a0 He always has a great big smile on his face, and not a worry in the world, when you ask him to fix your big plumbing problems.\u00a0\u00a0 He really gives of himself when he is on the job.\u00a0 A Giver.<\/p>\n

Matt got a promotion though.\u00a0 He’s not our Go-To-Guy anymore.\u00a0 Somebody THAT hardworking and kind… WILL get promoted….. it seems.\u00a0 So he introduced\u00a0 Gordon, his replacement.<\/p>\n

And although I am rambling a bit, I shall continue.<\/p>\n

Matt relayed a “promotional story” with me.\u00a0 Apparently, a client flat out lied to them a couple of days ago, to get out of paying what she owed the company.\u00a0 Stood there and lied to their workgroup.\u00a0 They all knew it.\u00a0 She wanted to take something for free, it appears.\u00a0 A Taker.<\/p>\n

And that has been my observation… throughout the day…. ALL day today.\u00a0 I have encountered BOTH Givers and Takers.<\/p>\n

I don’t necessarily fault the Takers for wanting to take.\u00a0 Most of the times, I think this arises from their circumstances.\u00a0 They THINK they have to get the “one up”, to take and take… in order to get ahead.<\/p>\n

But that thing called Karma will swirl right around you…..\u00a0 like a swaddling blanket around a baby.\u00a0 I think the more good we do… AND….. the more we try to be givers…\u00a0 …it may just come back our way… in much bigger ways.\u00a0 I hope this is true.<\/p>\n

Regrettably, in my lifetime…. I’ve done my fair share of taking.\u00a0 In many ways I still do…. I suppose.\u00a0 But I try to be more of a giver.\u00a0 Not because I want something in return.\u00a0 It just feels so much better to me that way.<\/p>\n

There are so many good givers in my life.\u00a0\u00a0 I try to learn from them.\u00a0\u00a0 Friends and family, care givers, massage therapists, colleagues… service people … ..\u00a0 the lady at the bank window, when I hand her my withdrawal ticket. (Oh wait.\u00a0 She HAS to do that, doesn’t she?)\u00a0 But seriously. There are always those people that hold out a hand to help…<\/p>\n

As the great Jackie DeShannon scribed….”Think of your fellow man…
\nLend him a helping hand….\u00a0 Put a little love in your heart.”<\/p>\n

As with everything in life… there is more to something than what’s on the surface.\u00a0 Like… you can learn a lot more than plumbing… from your plumber.\u00a0 You can learn to give, and let if flow.<\/p>\n
