As if I haven’t told you enough about myself already.\u00a0 That is the thing… about writing these things.\u00a0 You lay it all out there.<\/p>\n

It used to be you could write in your diary, and the only person who would see it was your nosy mother.\u00a0 Not anymore.<\/p>\n

Nope.\u00a0 Through the transcendence of Social Media, we feel compelled to share\u00a0 ourselves with the world.\u00a0 We have morphed into Karaoke Queens.<\/p>\n

In school… we never raised our hands, or volunteered to read our papers out loud in class.\u00a0 We hated Speech Class.<\/p>\n

But today… we all sing a different tune.\u00a0 Some of us differently than others.\u00a0 Zuckerberg made it easy for us.<\/p>\n

Yesssirrrreeee.\u00a0 There are hundreds and hundreds of different online personae.<\/p>\n

You have your garden variety stalkers.\u00a0 The lurkers.\u00a0 The trolls.\u00a0 They just go from thing to thing…. never really interacting.\u00a0 They just read and “tsk” or read and “laugh”…. occasionally giving a thumbs up.<\/p>\n

Then there are the compulsive posters.\u00a0 They never really generate content of their very own, but they feel highly compelled to share every variety of “canned posts”… from quotes to cute photos of kittens in coffee cups …. to recipes from Pintrest.<\/p>\n

The Politicos.\u00a0 All politics and no play can make Jack a dull boy.\u00a0 And yes, it is a noble cause…\u00a0 they hold their picket signs high.<\/p>\n

The Family Album Fiend.\u00a0 Every picture of their kids, family, friends, meal, ball game, and pet.<\/p>\n

The Commentators.\u00a0 They comment.<\/p>\n

The Bloggers.\u00a0 That would be my category, I suppose.\u00a0 We are the ones that think we have something necessary to share with the world, and we blather about it ….. out there…. most every day.\u00a0 I have been blathering non-stop.\u00a0 Every day…. for the past five years.\u00a0\u00a0 That is nearly 2000 posts, with 2000 photographs (or drawings).\u00a0 I think I have writer’s cramp.<\/p>\n

There are as many categories as there are people.<\/p>\n

The Animal Lovers.<\/p>\n

The Bible Verse Posters.<\/p>\n

The Selfie Selves.<\/p>\n

The YouTubers.<\/p>\n

And an, and on.<\/p>\n

But all of that brings me to this.\u00a0 I wonder how much our “real selves” are like our “online digital selves”?\u00a0 Speaking for myself… most of the time… I am very much like my “bloggy me”.\u00a0 In fact… sometimes I say things in public, and I find myself standing in front of a very bewildered stranger.\u00a0\u00a0 Mary does a lot of explaining for me in social settings.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless.\u00a0\u00a0 It is a different realm in which we live.\u00a0 I can only hope that we all try to act kindly, and compassionately, and respectfully, no matter which world we are in.\u00a0 The world which is on line…. or the world that is TRULY on line.\u00a0 Hit the like button if you agree.\u00a0 No, not that one….\u00a0 the one in your heart.<\/p>\n
