Sometimes… you just have to say to yourself….<\/p>\n

Life doesn’t get any better than this.\u00a0\u00a0 Better than…. Lincoln Logs, Cheese Pizza, and any televised football game on a Sunday.<\/p>\n

Yes.\u00a0 What a joy these things are, especially when they are shared with the ones you love.\u00a0\u00a0 Kids, Grandkids, Spouses, Friends.<\/p>\n

But… enough with the sap already.<\/p>\n

Let’s talk Lincoln Logs.<\/p>\n

Oh… you know what they are.\u00a0 Lincoln Logs are the little wooden toys consisting of notched miniature log segments.\u00a0 You can\u00a0 use them to build small forts and buildings and skyscrapers and such.<\/p>\n

They are cool-io toys.\u00a0 You can create whatever it is you want.\u00a0 You can dream-build.<\/p>\n

Most people don’t know that they were invented by John Lloyd Wright, second son of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright.<\/p>\n

How about them architectural splinters?<\/p>\n

The toy sets were originally made of redwood.\u00a0\u00a0 Wouldn’t you know…\u00a0 In the 1970s…..\u00a0 the ding-dong parent company unsuccessfully introduced sets made entirely of plastic.\u00a0 Bad idea.\u00a0 I mean… what the crap.\u00a0 Who ever heard of a plastic log cabin?\u00a0 They soon reverted to real wood on all their sets.\u00a0 Good idea.<\/p>\n

So… back when it all started in 1916…. when John Lloyd Wright was working in Japan with his father.\u00a0 The mold for the toy was based on the architecture of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.\u00a0 Now that was Franky boy designing that honker.\u00a0 It was commissioned to be “earthquake-proof”.<\/p>\n

At any rate, John came back to the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0 He got busy, and finally was\u00a0 issued U.S. patent 1,351,086 on August 31, 1920, for a “Toy-Cabin Construction”.<\/p>\n

(The original Lincoln Log set came with instructions on how to build Uncle Tom’s Cabin as well as Lincoln’s cabin.\u00a0 In the day.)<\/p>\n

Most think they were named for President Lincoln.\u00a0 But truth of the matter is…. they were more likely named for\u00a0 Frank Lloyd Wright’s original name, Frank Lincoln Wright.\u00a0\u00a0 And of course, the slang…. which is the alteration of the name, ‘linkin’ logs.<\/p>\n

But enough history.\u00a0 They are fun.\u00a0 Like I said… you can be creative and build.<\/p>\n

Yes.\u00a0 You can build dreams.\u00a0\u00a0 And what is better in life then to put your elbows on the floor, and build dream after dream… with the one’s you care about the most.\u00a0 Like I said.\u00a0\u00a0 It just doesn’t get any better.<\/p>\n

This indeed is a really good linking toy.<\/p>\n
