Once again, I am a little embarrassed to admit it, but I am a big fan of The Wheel of Fortune. It is the competitive streak in me, I think.\u00a0 I like to finish the puzzles before the contestants can figure them out.\u00a0 And then I yell like crazy at the television… “Oh c’mon you guys….. ‘One Fish. Two Fish. Red Fish Blue Fish.\u00a0 How HARD is THAT???'”<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes.\u00a0 That is my MO.<\/p>\n

Admittedly, tonight, I watched once again.\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 What a pathetic Saturday night Polly.\u00a0 But again I say… that is my MO.<\/p>\n

And tonight on the Wheel …. was College Senior Night.\u00a0 Well, much to my dismay… they could not figure out the following phrase:<\/p>\n

“Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck”<\/p>\n

They had ALL but the S in Steinbeck.\u00a0 Fill in this phrase.\u00a0 Holy _hit!
\nI couldn’t believe these college seniors could not recognize this titled classic literature piece.<\/p>\n

And then.\u00a0 Next…. is when I realized that our society truly is on a rapid and horrible path toward total ruination and eradication.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The following puzzle came up.\u00a0 It was this phrase:<\/p>\n

“Ordering Beverages Poolside”<\/p>\n

They immediately got THAT one.\u00a0 With maybe half the letters in tact.\u00a0 I reiterate:\u00a0 “Holy _hit!!”\u00a0 Pat give me an S.<\/p>\n

My head dizzied… and fell abruptly into my plateful of pizza.\u00a0 I was vexed.. to say the least.<\/p>\n

Alright… let’s get the mozzarella off my face and\u00a0 move on with the evening.\u00a0 A blurb came on for Entertainment Tonight… or some such show.\u00a0 The big headline:\u00a0 Mary Jo Somebody of Stardom<\/em> is showing a Baby Bump while on the red carpet in her slinky dress.<\/p>\n

Now at that very moment …..my Saturday evening had gone from bad to worse.\u00a0 If there is one phrase I loathe as much as “24\/7” or “It is what it is”…. that phrase would be “Baby Bump.”<\/p>\n

Baby Bump is when your kid falls down the stairs and gets a nasty knot on the forehead.\u00a0 When someone is pregnant… they are pregnant.\u00a0 Or more politely… “Expecting”<\/p>\n

Baby Bump.\u00a0 I would say Holy Shit again, but it is getting old.<\/p>\n

Fear not friends.\u00a0\u00a0 All is not lost.\u00a0 There were some shining moments in today’s news.\u00a0 The next blurb followed:\u00a0 Pope Frankie has welcomed divorced people, and homosexuals, with open arms, into the Catholic Church.\u00a0\u00a0 He encourages all members of the church to do the same.<\/p>\n

I can only hope\u00a0 he will soon pardon poor spellers with baby bumps.<\/p>\n

Holy Pope.\u00a0 Somebody buy a vowel.<\/p>\n
