I bet a lot of kids today don’t even know what Memorex is.<\/p>\n

But WE know.
\n“Is it live…. or is it Memorex?”\u00a0 I loved those commercials.<\/p>\n

Yep.\u00a0 We’re getting old IF…..\u00a0 we remember… cassette tapes.\u00a0 We used to record things on cassette tapes.\u00a0 When I was in college… and someone made you a “tape”…. well… that was a big dang deal.<\/p>\n

It meant they were probably swell on you.\u00a0 “Here.\u00a0 I made you a tape of some of my favorite music.”\u00a0 Oh yeah.\u00a0 That was serious business when someone did that for you.<\/p>\n

But then I would always have to say back to them… .. “Is it live… or is it Memorex?”<\/p>\n

Yessirrrreeee Bob. Those were the days.<\/p>\n

Seems like these days… I’m not up to speed on the inside track.\u00a0 I don’t even know who is who anymore.<\/p>\n

Mary and I will be watching some entertainment weekly show on TV… and I’ll say… “Who is that?”\u00a0 And she says… “You’re asking ME?”\u00a0 And I say…. “I bet she’s on some sitcom or something.”\u00a0 And Mary says… “I’ll bet your right.\u00a0 Or maybe she’s a model.”<\/p>\n

We sound like those two old men in the balcony on The Muppet Show.<\/p>\n

I bet a lot of kids today don’t know what The Muppet Show is.
\nCrap… we are getting old.<\/p>\n

Today, I was looking through Decor Magazine, for some decorating ideas.\u00a0 Or re-decorating ideas… specifically.<\/p>\n

I saw an ad and I had no idea what the deal was.\u00a0 I sure couldn’t imagine who would be affected by such in ad…. in a good way.\u00a0\u00a0 I couldn’t tell if the woman in the ad was wearing a hat… or if it was supposed to be her hair.\u00a0 I am pathetic.<\/p>\n

Don’t get me wrong.\u00a0 I am all for progress if it is in the right direction.\u00a0 I am a Technology Beast.\u00a0 A Geek in the true sense of the word.\u00a0 But there are some things I just drag my heals on…. like wearing pants down around your knees on purpose …. OR\u00a0 acronyms for everything…. I mean WTF?<\/p>\n

LOL.<\/p>\n

Okay, seriously.\u00a0 There are certain things in life I hope that never go away.\u00a0 The Quaker Oats Dude.\u00a0 He’s right up there with the Kellogg Rooster.\u00a0\u00a0 But other things…. like #2 Lead Pencils, Ball Canning Jars, and Analog Clocks.<\/p>\n

Whiskers on kittens.\u00a0 Warm woolen mittens, and brown paper packages tied up with strings.\u00a0 And… and……\u00a0 doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.<\/p>\n

Because, I’ll tell you.\u00a0 When you get a little down … … or don’t understand a vogue-ish magazine ad…. or when the dog bites.. or the bee stings….<\/p>\n

You simply just need a few of your favorite things.
\nNOW THAT was live.\u00a0 Not Memorex.<\/p>\n
