I like facts.\u00a0 Cold hard facts.<\/p>\n

Don’t get me wrong here.\u00a0 I like to dream too.\u00a0 And to conjure and to feign.\u00a0 And there is always room for a good game of speculation.\u00a0 One of my favorite things to see, is a little kid, “playing pretend.”\u00a0 I wonder what age most of us quit playing pretend.<\/p>\n

But back to the subject at hand.\u00a0 “Nothing but the facts ma’am.\u00a0 Nothing but the facts.”<\/p>\n

I especially enjoy learning obscure and interesting facts.\u00a0 I seek them out.\u00a0 But sometimes… they make you wonder just who in the world discovered such a thing.\u00a0 Or why they might even bother gathering this information.<\/p>\n

Which I will gladly share with you this evening.<\/p>\n

Here are some.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The estimated percentage of American adults who go on a diet each year is 44%.\u00a0 The other 56% are either fit, or they don’t give a damn.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The\u00a0 average number of days a West German goes without washing his underwear is seven days.\u00a0 That is one week in the U.S.\u00a0 That is too long…. anywhere on earth.\u00a0\u00a0 I am not sure who conducted this study.\u00a0 But I bet something they smelled prompted the investigation.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The percentage of Americans who say that God has spoken to them is 36%.\u00a0 The other 64% either don’t believe in God….. or if they do believe in God… he must not feel like talking to them in particular.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Irving Berlin wrote every one of his compositions in F-sharp.\u00a0 Most American car horns honk in the key of F.\u00a0\u00a0 Honk if you love Irv.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Twenty-three percent of all photocopier faults worldwide are caused by people sitting on them and photocopying their butts.\u00a0 (Is there evidence to prove this?\u00a0 Cracks on\u00a0 the glass of the photocopier?)\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\u2022 Deer can’t eat hay.\u00a0 I just read about this one tonight.\u00a0 Why do I find this interesting?\u00a0 We have a hay feeder out by our salt lick…. for the deer.\u00a0 We put fresh bales of hay in it…. but the hay always rots.\u00a0 No one eats it.\u00a0 The deer probably think we are thick as bricks in the head.\u00a0 Now we know.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 The average lead pencil will draw a line 35 miles long or write approximately 50,000 English words.\u00a0\u00a0 Someone had to spend valuable time figuring this out.\u00a0 I spent valuable time telling you about it.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Every year about 98% of atoms in your body are replaced.\u00a0 And that means…. you are no longer the person you thought you were.\u00a0 At least… not a year ago.<\/p>\n

Times are a-changing.\u00a0 One atom at a time.\u00a0 And that is a fact.<\/p>\n
