You can count on an abacus.
\nYou can count on your hand.
\nYou can even count on an egg timer.
\nThere are a lot of things you can count on.<\/p>\n

But then.\u00a0 There are the things which you can’t.
\nThese are what I like to call ….. …\u00a0 “The Unpredictables.”<\/p>\n

Boy oh boy.\u00a0 Chef-Boy-Ardee-Boy-Oh-Boy….. life is full of the unpredictables.<\/p>\n

The doneness of a medium steak… at any given restaurant.
\nThe airline schedule.
\nThe price of gasoline.
\nThe weather.\u00a0 Like… where lightning will strike next.<\/p>\n

Oh, sure there are things you can depend on.
\nA good old peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
\nA hooded sweatshirt.
\nGold Medal Flour.
\nThe Energizer Bunny.<\/p>\n

But in the bigger scheme of things… the universe seems filled with “The Unknowns.”<\/p>\n

Perhaps… we might consider people.
\nSometimes, people do the unpredictable.<\/p>\n

On occasion, this may make you laugh…. or cry… happy… sad.. or sometimes even mad.<\/p>\n

Okay… for example.\u00a0 Have you ever met an English Bulldog with one gold-tooth?\u00a0 Yeah?\u00a0 Well, me neither….. so I don’t really know where I was going with THAT one.\u00a0 But if I ever got an English Bulldog,\u00a0 I would name him Gordy.\u00a0 And I’d make sure he had one gold tooth…. when I picked him up from the shelter.\u00a0\u00a0 Me and Gordy would take long walks, and eat Milkbones together.\u00a0 We’d play fetch the tennis ball, until I get tired… then I would let him chase the ball.\u00a0 We’d watch reruns of Lassie, and become entirely and completely… the best of friends.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I would be able to count on Gordy….\u00a0 like I can count to ten on my toes.<\/p>\n

And when The Unpredictables came knocking on our door… we would honker down….. to see it through… whatever the “it” might be.\u00a0 And when it was all said and done… I would hug Gordy… and be thankful for him… and of course……\u00a0 for all the other good people…. and things in my life life… which I can count on.<\/p>\n

Yep.\u00a0 That’s what I would do.
\nIf… I met an English Bulldog… that is.<\/p>\n
