Here is this neck of the woods.<\/p>\n

That’s a heck of a phrase, now isn’t it.\u00a0 First and foremost… do woods really have necks, heads, shoulders, bellies, feet, and such?<\/p>\n

You don’t often hear….\u00a0\u00a0 “Well… in these hips of the woods…… ”\u00a0 OR…. “In this knee of the woods.”
\nIt always happens in the neck.\u00a0 Always.<\/p>\n

But there I go AGAIN.\u00a0 I digress, and I hadn’t really even started yet.\u00a0 Pathetic.<\/p>\n

Okay.\u00a0 Here is this neck of the woods..we have a little festival each year…. where people gather ’round the PIG.\u00a0 It is true.\u00a0 The Grand and Famous Preble County Pork Festival.<\/p>\n

I don’t know that it is officially called “Grand and Famous” but it probably ought to be.\u00a0 It is one Big Pig Celebration.\u00a0 There are chops, and hams, and sausages, and pork sandwiches.\u00a0 Cracklin’s crackling all over the place.\u00a0\u00a0 I’m telling you… if you want something pork… you will find it here at the Preble County Feast.<\/p>\n

Vegans don’t get along so well here…. in this neck of the woods.<\/p>\n

Anyway… there are Pig Races, Cement Pig Painting Contests, Arts and Crafts Galore.\u00a0 Fun and Games.\u00a0 Educational Displays.\u00a0 And people.<\/p>\n

Not only are there people who are celebrating the Pork…. there are people who have a need for The Pig.\u00a0 Of course…. food from pigs.\u00a0 But even more so…. they need the…..\u00a0 Pig paintings to hang on their walls.\u00a0 Pig birdhouses, potholders, and cookie jars.\u00a0 Pig yard art.\u00a0 Pig clothing.\u00a0 You name it…<\/p>\n

It is one big happy festival.\u00a0 And there is so much Pig Happiness, that the Big Bad Wolf is nowhere to be seen.\u00a0\u00a0 That old boy is way up in the neck of the Northern Michigan woods … or something.<\/p>\n

And then….. after the festival, the pigs will have to go back to building their houses of straw, and sticks, and bricks, and such.\u00a0\u00a0 If they want to hide, of course.<\/p>\n

Most of ’em this weekend…. are just hiding in blankets.\u00a0 I know that for a fact.
