There is that old saying that goes… “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”<\/p>\n

As corny as it is… that old phrase is about as dag-nabbin’ true as they get.<\/p>\n

Today really is the very first day of the rest of your life.<\/p>\n

Sure, there have been days before… but now that THIS one is here… those other days are not the ‘firsts’ anymore.\u00a0\u00a0 They are passed.\u00a0\u00a0 Past.<\/p>\n

Which means…. in a very rough translation…. “Get over it… and get on with it.”\u00a0\u00a0 This is our new first day… and we can make of it whatever we want.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That is what “they” say all right.<\/p>\n

So… again.\u00a0 I SAY Dag Nabbit.\u00a0\u00a0 I sure wish I could do this.\u00a0 At least, I think I do.\u00a0 Unfortunately… I am a “Holder-On-To.”\u00a0 Yes indeed.\u00a0\u00a0 I hold on to things.\u00a0 Past transgressions.\u00a0 Past wrongs.\u00a0 Past mishaps.<\/p>\n

Resentments creep up on me like a bad pair of underwear.<\/p>\n

I love to hear those “certain” people talk about how easy it is for them to let go of things.\u00a0 Dr. Phil.\u00a0\u00a0 Mary Jo Daisy-Head.\u00a0 And, of course, that little girl in the move Frozen.<\/p>\n

But me?\u00a0 Well… I keep the old Darth Vader neck grip on things.\u00a0 I know it would be better to simply “Let it go.”\u00a0 But as that other catchy phrase goes…. “Easier said than done.”<\/p>\n

Intellectually, I know it is better to be free of all things which don’t serve us well.\u00a0\u00a0 I get it.\u00a0\u00a0 And having inner peace is the only true way to happiness… and on and on….\u00a0\u00a0 Deep breaths.\u00a0 Feel the deep breath cleanse your inner spirit.\u00a0 Shift your focus from the negative to the positive…. and… and…<\/p>\n

And when someone stands there and tells me those things.. I REALLY\u00a0 start to resent them.<\/p>\n

You see?\u00a0 I can be pretty pathetic.<\/p>\n

And this is just my first day on the job.\u00a0 Or so the saying goes.<\/p>\n
