I must have a case of the Barbra Streisand’s “People Who Need People.”\u00a0 Or maybe it is Bette Midler’s “You’ve Got To Have Friends.”\u00a0 Because here I am back on that very subject.\u00a0 Again.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless….\u00a0 You know how good it is to have a friend?<\/p>\n

Well, dag nab it… I have to say it is one of the best feelings in the world.\u00a0 Especially a very best friend.\u00a0 True blue.\u00a0 Dyed in the wool.\u00a0 Honest-to-absolutely-goodness-kind-of-friend.<\/p>\n

These types have been around a long time.\u00a0 Way before the kids of today decided to call them as BFFs.\u00a0 Big Freakin’ Fuss… is what those BFFs are.<\/p>\n

A good friend, is what you call….. well… a good friend.\u00a0 Old school.\u00a0 No acronym will do the job… I’ll tell you.<\/p>\n

Those are the ones that make you laugh so hard that you squirt milk out your nose.\u00a0\u00a0 They are the same ones who don’t mind when your eyes look like pink fatty marshmallows when you’ve been crying and crying.<\/p>\n

Yep.\u00a0 The few who will forgive you when you make dull-headed mistakes.\u00a0 The same friend who cheers you on….. and is truly glad to see you make good in the world.<\/p>\n

I have been blessed enough to have a handful of these in my life.\u00a0\u00a0 People I trust, and respect, and like, and love.<\/p>\n

But a million times beyond that, I am lucky enough to have a friend who is my kindred spirit.\u00a0 The one who has been by my side… through thick and thin…. for more than half my life.<\/p>\n

There is a deep understanding.\u00a0 An assurance.\u00a0 A credence.
\nLike ….when those certain times arise in life.\u00a0\u00a0 When there is some kind of food that you are afraid to try… you can push it their way… and say… “Try this.”\u00a0\u00a0 And they say… “It smells horrible.\u00a0 I’m not going to eat that.”\u00a0\u00a0 And you say…\u00a0 “Oh c’mon.\u00a0 I want to know if it is any good.”\u00a0 And they say… “But it stinks.”<\/p>\n

And they try it.\u00a0 And then they make a squinchy-face and spit it back out on the plate.\u00a0 And you both start laughing … and before you know it…. milk is squirting out of both your noses….<\/p>\n

If we drank milk.\u00a0 That is.<\/p>\n

Best of all…. I am even more fortunate… because this person is my partner in life.\u00a0 And my heart is glad for that.<\/p>\n
