By this very minute… we are all getting older.<\/p>\n

Here is sort of how it works… how we keep track of time.\u00a0\u00a0 The hands just keep moving their way around the face of the clock.\u00a0 That part is for sure.\u00a0 But on the bigger scale.\u00a0 The earth spins…. day and night… and night and day… on it axis.\u00a0 Cock-a-doodle do.<\/p>\n

All the while…. this big blue ball….whirls along its predetermined orbital path around…. and around…. the sun.\u00a0 Our moon sticks right with us.\u00a0 But there are other planets.. and other moons…. each with their circular schedule around the sun.\u00a0\u00a0 The mechanics of it are miraculous.\u00a0 Incredible.<\/p>\n

Is it all complete randomness…. or a very well constructed pattern… a defined schematic?<\/p>\n

Tonight… we went to our oldest grandchild’s birthday party.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It seems like all I did was blink…. and this earth of ours… had done eighteen laps around the sun.<\/p>\n

And as I stood there tonight… amongst those people who I love very much… who mean so much to me… I was so glad & grateful for that moment.\u00a0 I was so thankful for all the moments…. and for sharing that time with them.<\/p>\n

I simply cannot believe that it is sheer dumb luck… or complete randomness… that you are you.\u00a0 And I am me.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That they are who they are.<\/p>\n

Just like the earth has a very well defined orbital path around the sun… passing different planets at different times…., I think too, that we have orbits.\u00a0 We move through life.. passing different people at different times… all on their separate paths.\u00a0 Some of us coming closer than others.\u00a0 But each… on a unique circular schedule.<\/p>\n

On the other hand… I think there are unexplainable things which happen completely in a random and nonsensical way.\u00a0 Like Justin Bieber finding fortune and fame.<\/p>\n

I can’t pretend to know how any of this works… to be honest.\u00a0 I just know that tonight I am thankful for who I am… and where I am.\u00a0 I am grateful for those good and lovely people in my life.\u00a0 And that our paths have joined together… whether by design, or by arbitrary tumble.<\/p>\n

I happen to think… that somehow… it was meant to be.\u00a0 Exactly as it is.<\/p>\n
