Every once in a while, we all have to get sick.\u00a0 There are some people who say they never, ever get sick, but I wonder about that.\u00a0 What are they… Robots?<\/p>\n

At any rate.\u00a0 It is a natural occurrence in humans.<\/p>\n

And this past week I have had such an episode.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I have been a wee bit\u00a0 Under The Weather.\u00a0 For nearly an entire week, now\u2026 I have not quite felt my best.\u00a0 Compared to what some people have to endure in life…\u00a0\u00a0 this little flu\/cold bug is nothing.\u00a0 More of an annoyance than anything.\u00a0\u00a0 But once again… .. …. it got me thinking.\u00a0 About\u2026 Under the Weather.<\/p>\n

Now\u2026 would say this is a funny phrase, wouldn\u2019t you agree?\u00a0 I mean.\u00a0 Unless we are flying high in the sky on a big old jet airliner\u2026. All of us are pretty much under the weather.\u00a0 Be it rain, or sleet or snow, or sun.\u00a0 Here we are.\u00a0 Feet on the ground…. right smack dab…. under it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Weather.<\/p>\n

So where did this “not-feeling-well-\/under-the-weather” come from?\u00a0 Of course.\u00a0 I had to find out.\u00a0 And this is what I discovered.<\/p>\n

Apparently, this goes back to the olden, olden days.\u00a0\u00a0 When people traveled mostly by ships… And sailors were in the thick of the merry maritime… With their stripey shirts, and little hats with tassles, and such.\u00a0 Yes…back\u00a0 when the pirates were eye-patch-pirates.\u00a0\u00a0 Back then… a big wooden boat was the way to go…to and fro.<\/p>\n

When bad weather hit… It would make people…passengers, crew… whoever was along for the ride… seasick.\u00a0 So they would go below deck and this would sometimes help.\u00a0 It would provide shelter from the weather, but just as importantly the sway would be as not as great below deck.<\/p>\n

And there you have it.\u00a0 Under the weather.<\/p>\n

I always try to be thankful, for the times when I am feeling in ship shape.\u00a0 When everything is smooth sailing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because when the wind get knocked out of your sails for real … …well… it can leave you dead in the water.<\/p>\n

So truth be told… right now …. I am just happy… that I only feel this bad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
