Fair Week.\u00a0 The Preble County Fair, to be exact.<\/p>\n

I love county fairs.\u00a0 There is just something about walking down the Fairway\u2026 and seeing all the sights.\u00a0 Little kids battling a fistful of cotton candy.\u00a0 Twelve-year olds guiding their goats to the judging arena.\u00a0 Women holding Circus Waffles like they have discovered the Ark of the Covenant.\u00a0 It goes on an\u00a0 on.<\/p>\n

Ahhh.\u00a0 Not only are their sights\u2026 there are smells.\u00a0 Sometimes this is a good thing.\u00a0 Other times\u2026 Not so much.<\/p>\n

Today was my third day of being at the Fairgrounds.\u00a0 All three have been working days.\u00a0 This particular stint was at the South Entrance Gate.<\/p>\n

It goes like this.\u00a0 People drive up.\u00a0 They want to go to the fair.\u00a0 I ask them for $6 a piece.\u00a0 They give it to me.\u00a0 I give them each a ticket.\u00a0\u00a0 And in they go.\u00a0 Wash and repeat.\u00a0\u00a0 And repeat and repeat.\u00a0 And about six hours later\u2026 a lot of people have passed my ticket apron.<\/p>\n

My favorite part of that\u2026 Is when my shift ends.<\/p>\n

And when it ended\u2026 We grabbed a hamburger and headed to the grandstands for the horse races.<\/p>\n

I sat there eating, and began wondering why hamburger are called hamburgers.\u00a0 They are not made of ham.\u00a0 Did someone named Ham make the first one.\u00a0 Or did they used to come from pig meat\u2026 And then it got switched to cow.<\/p>\n

In this case\u2026 We were eating Chuckburgers.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t help but to think the very worst .<\/p>\n

Then\u2026 Out of the clear blue\u2026 One of the horses had a wreck.\u00a0\u00a0 I never found out if she was okay, or not.\u00a0 But this day was going downhill rather quickly.\u00a0 First the hamburger conundrum\u2026 An now THIS!<\/p>\n

So\u2026 Away we went.<\/p>\n

I have to go back to the fair tomorrow\u2026 to do some more work.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, it will all just be happy Circus Waffles, Elephant Ears, and Corn Dogs.<\/p>\n

Ooooh no.\u00a0 Now I am wondering why THOSE things are called what they ARE.\u00a0 This fair-business is emotionally taxing I\u2019ll tell you.<\/p>\n
