Do you have any secret ambitions?\u00a0 Do you ever wake up one morning and think….. gosh….. I wish I could tap dance.<\/p>\n

\u2026. Or holy cow\u2026. I wish I knew how to play the accordion. Or perhaps, it isn\u2019t just one thing, but a combination of things.<\/p>\n

Like,\u00a0 you really would like to play the banjo and the accordion at the same time, while balancing on a flagpole.<\/p>\n

I think a lot of us have things we would like to do.\u00a0 But those interests are in areas that we never explored.\u00a0\u00a0 Or maybe skills we never mastered… Or EVEN learned.<\/p>\n

Now my very, very, secret ambition\u2026. which is no longer going to be my secret ambition because I’m telling all of you here right now\u2026.. is to be one of those test pilots.\u00a0 Like the dangerous test fighter pilots.<\/p>\n

Now a lot of times people will say\u2026.. you should just go for your dreams.\u00a0 Everyone should live to fulfill their dreams.\u00a0 Blah, blah, blah.<\/p>\n

Well\u2026 I sorta\u2019 thought this sounded like a good idea.<\/p>\n

So low and behold\u2026 with the test pilot thing\u2026\u00a0 I decided to\u00a0 call around a few places.<\/p>\n

I tried the Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Army, NASA, Society for Explorative Pilots, Blue Angels, and a few others.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, most of them don’t really want a 50-year-old scrawny woman with poor eyesight\u2026..\u00a0 and no flying experience.<\/p>\n

So\u00a0 besides playing on the Wii, I guess pilot thing is out.<\/p>\n

Another one is to be a Boxer.\u00a0 Oh\u2026 Let\u2019s get this straight.\u00a0 I don\u2019t like to fight, and I certainly don\u2019t want to get hit in the face.\u00a0 Which would be my point as a boxer\u2026. I would just run around the ring and try to make peace.\u00a0 \u201cC\u2019mon buddy\u2026 Put those gloves down for crying out loud.\u00a0 Why so serious?\u00a0 Give Peace A CHANCE.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 And of course, I would ask if I could be the one to ring the bell (as I was running by) when the round was over.\u00a0 AND.\u00a0 I like Gatorade \u2026\u00a0 which really adds to the appeal of this.<\/p>\n

I guess if you put my two aspirations together\u2026 I would be a Punch-Us-Pilot.\u00a0 (Say it out loud.. And quickly.)\u00a0 Yeah. That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n

Oh, but our dreams are fleeting things now aren\u2019t they. That is what the poets say.\u00a0 And\u2026.\u00a0\u00a0 Anyone who watches some of the schmucks on America\u2019s Got Talent know how quickly those dreams fade away.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you\u00a0 already living yours?<\/p>\n

Alright, so maybe I can not carve ice-sculptures with a chainsaw.\u00a0 Or even make a rabbit disappear into a top hat.\u00a0 But each morning, when I lift my head from the pillow, I can count a hundred different blessings on each hand and foot.\u00a0 Not because I have that many fingers and toes\u2026 But because I have THAT many blessings.<\/p>\n

Living my life with my soulmate.\u00a0 A loving family, and friends.\u00a0 Three great dogs. Health. Home. Food and Medicine. Community. Freedom. Yep, walking around wide awake\u2026\u00a0 is a pretty good deal after all.<\/p>\n

Somebody pinch me\u2026 Cause I feel like I\u2019m dreaming.<\/p>\n

And pinching is okay\u2026 Just don\u2019t wallop me in the boxing ring.<\/p>\n
