Dag nab it.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t you know this was one jam-packed day with out this monkey wrench in my plans?<\/p>\n

Okay\u2026. it started like this.<\/p>\n

I felt the need to open a Fortune Cookie\u2026 first thing in the day.\u00a0 I simply wanted to know.
\nAnd this is what it foretold\u2026. \u201cYou have a friendly heart, and are well admired.\u201d<\/p>\n

I think part of this may be true.\u00a0 There are times when I have a friendly heart.\u00a0 (I also have my \u201cEvil Twin Moments\u201d in life.)\u00a0 At any rate, I tucked the fortune into my pocket and set off for the day.<\/p>\n

So then\u2026. On my way to visit my Mom, I felt the need for a Diet Coke.\u00a0 I like a Diet Coke, I’ll tell you.\u00a0 In fact, I have a bit of an addiction.\u00a0 Now\u2026 before you jump my case about \u201chow bad it is for me\u201d\u2026 and all of that\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 I have a few thoughts.<\/p>\n

Get ready for a side-bar.<\/p>\n

Gluten-free is a passing fad.\u00a0 Pasty white foods will some day rule the world.\u00a0 And a most recent study has reported that\u00a0 salt, coffee, chocolate, red wine, zucchini, pickled herring, and Ostrich eggs are good \/ not good for you\u2026. depending on the day.\u00a0 Not to mention the whole sunscreen report.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 back to my Diet Coke stop.\u00a0 Those people at Coca-Cola are running a very neat-o campaign.\u00a0 The cans now say things like\u2026 \u201cHave a Diet Coke with your Buddy.\u201d\u00a0 Or \u201cHave a Diet Coke with your Dad; a Star; your sister; a Pal.\u201d And on and on.<\/p>\n

Today, I reached in the cooler at the Slurpy-Mart and grabbed a cold one.\u00a0 A little later\u2026 I noticed it said\u2026 \u201cHave a Diet Coke with Alex.\u201d\u00a0 Holy Crap.\u00a0 I don\u2019t KNOW an Alex.<\/p>\n

For the next five or six hours\u2026I walked around town\u2026 asking people if they were \u201cAlex\u201d\u2026 and I assured them that I had a kind heart\u2026 and was even admired by many.\u00a0 I did this in hopes of convincing someone to have this Diet Coke with me.<\/p>\n

It was all to no avail.\u00a0 I found no Alex.\u00a0 I grew so thirsty\u2026\u00a0 that I had to drink the DC\u2026 all by myself\u2026. feeling a little despondent\u2026 and regrettably\u2026. admired by none.<\/p>\n

The rest of my day\u2026 continued …. to say the least.\u00a0 And this evening\u2026 when I finally got home\u2026 I sat down with Mary, and Max, and Frances, and Ollie.\u00a0 We talked and laughed about the stories of the day\u2026\u00a0 while I had a Diet Coke.<\/p>\n

And then it hit.\u00a0 This is what I learned.<\/p>\n

Sometimes\u2026 everything you are looking for\u2026 is found right at your home of homes. Right\u2026. in the center of your heart.\u00a0 And sometimes it doesn’t really matter WHAT you call it.\u00a0 This was my Alex.<\/p>\n

Sure enough…..\u00a0 I\u2019ll drink to that.<\/p>\n
