I so enjoy sitting out on the deck in the early morning.\u00a0 I love to welcome the first cup of coffee to my lips.\u00a0 Call this an addiction to caffeine.\u00a0 I call it, good to the last drop.<\/p>\n

Always then…. I like to take in a deep, deep breathe.\u00a0 Like a Monk.\u00a0\u00a0 Not so much about meditating\u2026. it simply facilitates oxygen to the brain\u2026. which is another addiction of mine.<\/p>\n

Seriously though.\u00a0 I am very fortunate. We live in a beautiful place in Preble County, Ohio.\u00a0 There is a meadow in front of our house.\u00a0 It teems with life\u2026 especially when the meadow is green.\u00a0 I prefer it this way.\u00a0 It seems more to beautiful to me\u2026 then when it is brown, or gray, or white.<\/p>\n

Yes, in these summer months, I like to watch the rippling of the meadow, and all that it has to offer.<\/p>\n

This start of this day was filled with the usual suspects.\u00a0 The two chipmunks who grow more and more obese every day.\u00a0 The entire roster of\u00a0 birds at our feeders.\u00a0 Nuthutch, Titmouse, House Sparrow, Gold Finch, Chickadee, Wren, Cowbird, Red-Winged Blackbird, Cardinal, Blue Jay, Woodpecker, and more.\u00a0 Check. Check. Check.\u00a0\u00a0 Often times, the litany of feathers and song shivers-me-timbers.<\/p>\n

Every so often, we will get a treat.\u00a0 An unusual bird, or a fox\u2026 or an Elvis sighting.<\/p>\n

Today, I watched one of the most gloriously happy things I\u2019ve ever seen.\u00a0\u00a0 You see\u2026. we have had a Momma Deer around for quite sometime. We have suspected that she had an offspring.\u00a0 She is around this place a lot.\u00a0\u00a0 But always by herself.<\/p>\n

This morning,\u00a0 apparently, it was time for her youngster to see the world.\u00a0 She plodded down by the salt block.\u00a0 And then\u2026. her little sidekick came along.\u00a0 He leaped and trotted with so much glee.\u00a0 That little fella ran circles around his mom\u2026 again and again and again.<\/p>\n

It reminded me of a Tether Ball, stalking the Maypole.\u00a0 Around and around and around\u2026..at the speed of light.\u00a0 Okay\u2026 maybe at the speed of Rudolph.\u00a0 But fast!<\/p>\n

I had to laugh out loud as I watched.\u00a0 There was reckless abandon in his manner.\u00a0 This little guy was out playing, with Mom, for perhaps the very first time in his life.\u00a0 There was an obvious\u00a0 connection between Mom and her boy.<\/p>\n

But then.\u00a0 Suddenly\u00a0 A NOISE. Momma Deer\u2019s ears thrust into the air\u2026 as did her bobwhite tail.\u00a0 So.\u00a0 Within a second\u2026 she had warned her little one.\u00a0 And with that\u2026 they both vanished away into the nearby trees\u2026 as quickly as they had come.<\/p>\n

What a gift this was… to witness this interaction. This communication between a mother and her baby.<\/p>\n

Every day there is something miraculous before us.\u00a0 Something tremendously good right before our eyes.\u00a0 It is there.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, I let these moments get by without notice.\u00a0 I am not aware enough, or happy enough\u2026 or feeling good enough to notice.\u00a0 But sometimes, I do.<\/p>\n

I like the days when I am able to see.<\/p>\n
