THEY.<\/p>\n<p>And dang it.\u00a0 I am putting my foot down.\u00a0 If THEY can be some ambiguous about their name\u2026 I would like to have a few answers.\u00a0 So if any of the panel is listening to me\u2026 fire back some answers.<\/p>\n<p>Here we go.<\/p>\n<p>Why do THEY always call it a Baker\u2019s Dozen?\u00a0 Call it what it is.\u00a0 Thirteen.\u00a0 (No coincidence that today is Friday the 13th\u2026 which I\u2019ll get to in a minute.)\u00a0 Back to the bakery.\u00a0\u00a0 You go in and look at the board at the good old donut shop .. and it says\u2026 Baker\u2019s Dozen.\u00a0 And you get 13.\u00a0 I want to know WHY they do that.<\/p>\n<p>I will let THEY off the hook&#8230; because I do know is this.\u00a0 Supposedly, it goes back to 1260.\u00a0 The British Bakers back them were a bit notorious for \u201cshorting\u201d their customers.\u00a0 Well.. this ticked of King Henry III.\u00a0 So old Hank made a law that \u201cstandardized\u201d the weight of a loaf of bread.\u00a0 Baker\u2019s would through in an extra loaf to cover their butts.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of butts.\u00a0 Why do THEY have to call the \u201cAnnals of History\u201d the Annals of History?\u00a0 People often mispronounce this and it sounds like Anals.\u00a0 History Butts.<br \/>\nChronicles would be better maybe.\u00a0 The Chronicles of History.<\/p>\n<p>Next.\u00a0 Why do THEY call Pet Peeves\u2026 just that?\u00a0 Pet Peeves.<br \/>\nIt sounds a lot like Pet Pee.\u00a0 And they are completely different things.\u00a0 (Although I know A LOT about both.)<\/p>\n<p>I guess the Pet &#8220;part&#8221; is supposed to refer to someone who is very dear to you\u2026 like your partner or spouse.\u00a0 And of course peeve means\u2026. to exasperate, or irritate, annoy, vex\u2026. or even anger.<\/p>\n<p>But most people\u2019s Pet Peeves involve someone they don\u2019t even know.\u00a0 Like\u2026.. when drivers pull out in front of you and go really slowly\u2026. or\u2026.. the ones who turn without signaling .\u00a0 Or maybe strangers who talk loudly on cell phones in public.\u00a0 How about anyone near you on an airplane with a nasal problem.\u00a0 THEY should rename these sorts of things\u2026..\u00a0 to \u201cThe Big Horribles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It sounds better.\u00a0 What do you think of someone who picks at their rear end in public?\u00a0 \u201cOh my gosh.\u00a0 That is one of my Big Horribles.\u201d\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Let\u2019s start a petition.<\/p>\n<p>And finally\u2026 why have THEY deemed Friday the 13th as an unlucky day.\u00a0 If you are breathing and reading this\u2026 you made it to the 14th.\u00a0 That\u2019s dang lucky, in my book&#8230;.. and in Max&#8217;s too.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cThe positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; Unknown<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cLaugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; Unknown<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Max is a curious dog.\u00a0 And tonight, we both have curiosities.\u00a0 A bone to pick&#8230;. if you will.
