Today,\u00a0 Mom and I went to the Dentist.\u00a0 You know\u2026. for years\u2026 my Mom took me everywhere.\u00a0 Until I was about 16.\u00a0\u00a0 Then it seems\u2026 we started using separate vehicles.\u00a0 Give a kid a Driver\u2019s License, and they think they are all grown up.<\/p>\n

Anyway\u2026 on this day.\u00a0 I took my Mom. (Specifically\u2026 WE took Mom….. my brother and I were sidekicks today.)<\/p>\n

But.\u00a0\u00a0 That is the way it has been going for the past few years.\u00a0 I take Mom places.\u00a0 I doubt she will be driving again any time soon.\u00a0 Seriously doubt it.\u00a0 Unless she carjacks somebody.<\/p>\n

At any rate\u2026 back to the dentist.\u00a0 I love going to my dentist.\u00a0 He is the best.\u00a0 He is kind, and gentle, and a great listener.\u00a0 And if it mattered to me\u2026 he is a real cutie too.<\/p>\n

His name is Dr. Craig Hewitt.\u00a0 He just seems like an all-around good guy.\u00a0 Well\u2026 he wasn\u2019t scheduled to see my Mom.\u00a0 The new guy\u2026 Dr. Ross was supposed to take care of us.\u00a0 I was a little disappointed because I didn\u2019t know who this new guy was.\u00a0 I wanted her to see Hewitt.<\/p>\n

As I soon found out\u2026 I DID know Dr. Ross.\u00a0 He is Derek.\u00a0 Janet C\u2019s nephew Derek!\u00a0 Dr Derek Ross! How do you like them drill bits?<\/p>\n

AND\u2026 as it turns out\u2026 he is a terrific dentist.\u00a0\u00a0 In fact.\u00a0 Superb.\u00a0 He was SO kind with Mom, and compassionate \u2026 and a good listener.\u00a0 He also went to great lengths to make her comfortable, and to explain everything to us\u2026 completely.<\/p>\n

My brother was really impressed too.\u00a0 He said \u201cMan.\u00a0 Who wouldn\u2019t like to go to the dentist if you go here?\u00a0 Everyone is so nice and so thorough.\u201d\u00a0 Then he said\u2026. \u201cWe can\u2019t go here though.\u00a0 Well\u2026 Betty (his wife) can\u2019t.\u00a0 All these guys look like they are right off the cover of GQ.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which they do.<\/p>\n

At any rate.\u00a0 Back to the story.\u00a0 Mom did well\u2026. except for four trips to the bathroom in our relatively short visit.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I guess getting your teeth checked makes some people really have to pee.<\/p>\n

The other realization is this.\u00a0 Some people are really extraordinary at \u201cwhat\u201d they do.\u00a0 And most of the times\u2026 it is those same people who seem to really enjoy \u201cwhat\u201d they do.<\/p>\n

While I rarely give \u201cshout outs\u201d here\u2026 I would like to give a big kaboodle of acknowledgement to the good doctors\u2026 Dr. Ross and Dr. Hewitt\u2026 and another big ovation to their staff.\u00a0 They were truly great with Mom today\u2026 and so caring\u2026 and for that I am forever grateful.<\/p>\n

They were so good in fact.. all Mom thought we did was take a ride in the country.<\/p>\n
